چکیده

1. The effect of drugs that cause neutropenia has been tested upon normal bone marrow colony formation in semi-solid agar. 2. Thiouracil, methimazole and phenylbutazone do not cause inhibition whereas sodium aurothiomalate, 6-mercaptopurine and chloramphenicol cause doserelated inhibition of colony formation at or below drug concentrations found in serum during therapy. Chloramphenicol also inhibits mouse bone marrow, L cells and Hela cells in agar culture. 3. Dose-response curves have been analysed by the probit method and found to be reproducible.

Effect of daunorubicin drug with and without cimetidine on the nucleated cells of bone marrow of balb/c mouse

Introduction: Hematopoiesis is an on going process mammalian marrow system. A few cells from the nucleated cells of bone marrow are hematopoietic cells which include primary stem cells, precursor cells and progenitor cells. Primary stem cells and progenitor cells are able to produce colonies in culture medium (CFU-C) and irradiated mouse spleen (CFU-S). A hematopoietic cell is alive and act...

Abnormal responses of myeloid progenitor cells to recombinant human colony-stimulating factors in congenital neutropenia.

The effects of recombinant human interleukin-3 (IL-3) and recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) on the growth of myeloid progenitor cells (CFU-C) in semisolid agar culture were studied in two patients with Kostmann-type congenital neutropenia. CFU-C growth in bone marrow cells from patients was significantly reduced in response to various concentrations of either IL-3 ...

THE INTERACTION OF RADIATION AND INTERCALATING AGENTS IN NORMAL BONE MARROW CELLS AS EVALUATED BY SPLEEN COLONY ASSAY TECHNIQUE: THE EFFECTS OF BLEOMYCIN SULFATE AND ACT INOMYCIND.

The relationship between the way in which normal hemopoietic stem cells respond to irradiation alone or in the presence of bleomycin sulfate (BLM-S) and actinomycin 0 (ACT-D) was investigated. Single doses of BLM-S at 0.3 mg/kg and ACT-O at 0.10 mg/kg body weight were injected intravenously 1-6 hours prior to whole body irradiation and treatment was repeated twice more with time intervals....

Growth in semisolid agar of prostate cancer cells obtained from bone marrow aspirates.

Thirty-one bone marrow aspirations were performed on patients with prostatic carcinoma metastatic to bone. After separation over a Ficoll-Hypaque gradient viable nucleated cells were cultured in semisolid agar. Colony formation occurred in 14 of 27 (52%) nonbacterially contaminated cultures. Characterization of cells from the colonies showed them to be consistent with malignant prostate cells. ...

Evaluation of Apoptosis in Multipotent Hematopoietic Cells of Bone Marrow by Anthracycline Antibiotics

Anthracycline antibiotics are potent anticancer drugs widely used in the treatment of solidtumors and hematological malignancies. Because of their extensive clinical use and their toxiceffect on normal cells, in the present study the effect of these drugs on multipotent hematopoieticbone marrow cells was investigated employing, viability tests, PARP cleavage, Hoechst 33258staining, DNA fragment...
